A beautiful city of Mithila used to be the kingdom of the King Janak from the vedha Dynasty at around 12,000 years ago ( In Treta Yug). Though no archeological evidences are found for the presence of the city . The palace is believed to have been located in the Janakpur. City is filled with ponds, vibrant colorful art , temples , culture and people.

The city has its own importance being the Birth place of the Sita from Ramayan. Sita was found by the king Janak in furrow while he was digging the farm. but Beside this it is the kingdom of rural hamlets inhabitant by farmers, artisans, priests and clerks,
The Mithila art (Madhubani Art) is the unique form of art found in homes of people drawn and painted with affection to express there stories , lifestyle and mythological stories mostly drawn by women from the families with twigs and fingers using the natural dyes such as sooth, charcoal, turmeric ,sandalwood, indigo and materials available in there home. It used to be painted in the outer walls of the Kohabar Ghar( Honeymoon) houses with the intension to increase the sexual potential of the bride and the groom . The Mithila art has flourished and grown in houses of Mithila (Janakpur) for centuries.
